Program Description

If you enjoy math and science and are seeking a career in an interesting, high-growth area, take a look at the Nanoscience Technology program.

Nanoscience is an extension of the common science we all learn, but on dimensions that are very small: the level of individual molecules and how they work together to affect properties.

New applications of nanoscience continually are being discovered, researched, and applied in several commercial areas, including electronics. Biological and medical applications could help discover causes of diseases and effective treatments against them.

Your program will include three semesters at CVTC, where you'll have a rare opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment in specially designed facilities, such as the atomic force and scanning electron microscopes and Class 100 cleanroom. Your fourth semester will be a capstone experience at CVTC and another area institution. You'll also complete an internship to gain workplace experience. If you wish, you may apply what you've gained toward a four-year college degree.

Through classroom and hands-on experiences you'll gain a broad application skill set that is attractive to a wide range of employers. More and more industries are using nanoscience applications, which means more employment opportunities. CVTC is strategically placed between Minneapolis-St. Paul and Madison, two regions seeing high growth in nanoscience companies. You have opportunities!
