Program Description


The Dental Assistant program is designed to give students the fundamental knowledge and basic skills needed to assist the dentist chairside in four-handed dentistry practice, apply skills in the dental laboratory, and in the business activities of the dental office. Graduates of the program, after two years' on-the-job experience, are eligible to apply for the certification examination of the Dental Assistant National Board.

The graduate of the Dental Assistant program will:

• assist the dentist in a variety of dental procedures.
• sterilize and prepare instruments.
• take impressions and prepare models.
• assist with general office procedures.
• expose and develop x-rays.
• maintain and update dental charts.

Program Admission Requirements


• COMPASS pre-entry assessment
• Wisconsin criminal background check and processing fee
• CPR, a pre-entrance health history, and physical examination must be on file three weeks prior to entering the core courses of the Dental Assistant program. The Admissions Office will notify you at the appropriate time.

Hepatitis B vaccination is highly recommended before enrolling in any program lab course.

This program is not eligible for financial aid consideration. However, students may be eligible for an alternative student loan.
