This program has an August entry date.Program DescriptionIt takes a combination of business ability and people skills to succeed in the hotel and restaurant management field. If that describes you, this may be the program you're looking for. The Hotel and Restaurant Management program will provide you with the skills and understanding you need for working in the lodging, food-service, and tourism industry. This is a hands-on program. Along with your classroom learning you'll have a variety of field trips, the opportunity to learn in the student-operated restaurant and deli, and on-the-job training. You will be prepared for entry-level management positions through training in essential skill areas: • Guest service relations • Hotel operations • Commercial food and beverage operations • Dining room service • Supervision • Management concepts • Promotions and marketing • Cost and sales control • Purchasing and inventory • Event planning • Tourist When you complete the program, you will earn the National Restaurant Association Applied Food Service Sanitation certificate, allowing you to become a Wisconsin Certified Food Manager. You will also receive the Responsible Beverage Certificate so you may become a licensed bartender. Entry-level employment opportunities are excellent, and the chance for advancement is good if you're motivated to succeed. This could be the program you need to launch your career! Program Admission Requirements• COMPASS pre-entry assessment Helpful Academic Background• Strong written and oral communication skills • Basic math skills in percents, decimals, fractions, and ratios • Mastery of keyboarding and computer software (Word, PowerPoint, etc.) MessagesIf you wish to continue your education at a four-year institution, completing courses with a grade of "C" or better may allow you to obtain advanced standing through transfer credits.
