CVTC Foundation Scholarships


ASHRAE/LA CROSSE CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP

The La Crosse Chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE) sponsors this annual scholarship. It is a premier chapter of this international technical organization. ASHRAE is dedicated to advancing the arts and sciences of heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, their allied arts and sciences and related human factors for the benefit of the general public.

ACCREDITATION IN ACCOUNTANCY SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is presented annually to students who take the Accreditation in Accountancy examination. Recipients are selected by the Accounting instructors. This scholarship is provided by the Chippewa Valley Technical College Foundation.

ALLIANT ENERGY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

In April of 1998, Wisconsin Power & Light Company merged with two Iowa utilities: IES Industried in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Interstate Power Company in Dubuque, Iowa. And, on January 1, 1999, two foundations merged to form the Alliant Energy Foundation. This annual vocational/technical school scholarship was established to assist students in developing their skills through post-high school education without being excessively burdened by the cost of that education. The scholarship will be awarded on a competitive basis.

ALLIANCE BANK SCHOLARSHIP

Alliance Bank shall award one $500 scholarship to an outstanding CVTC student studying in the program leading to the two-year associates degree in accounting.

Criteria:  The student must demonstrate financial need as determined by the CVTC Financial Aid Office. The recipient must demonstrate a strong aptitude to have a successful career in the accounting/finance field.

CALLI ANDRUS AND ORVILLE ANDRUS MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established in memory of Calli Andrus, a graduate of CVTC and an instructor in the Electromechanical Technology program from 1989 until her death in 1991. An additional memorial was made in memory of her father Orville Andrus in 2008. Preference will be given to female applicants; however, all interested students should apply. The recipient is selected by a special committee.

APEX ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP

The APEX Engineering Scholarship was established to benefit a deserving a high school senior from any Wisconsin school district or a current first year CVTC student who is enrolled in the Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Technology Program. The scholarship is sponsored by CVTC alumnus Richard Anderson who is the President of APEX Engineering.

ASSOCIATION FOR FACILITIES ENGINEERING CHAPTER 66 (AFE) SCHOLARSHIP

The Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE) Chippewa Valley Chapter 66 sponsors this annual scholarship. AFE provides education, certification, technical information and other relevant resources for plant and facility engineering, operations and maintenance professionals. This annual scholarship was established to assist students planning to enter the facilities engineering profession.

WAYNE R. ATKINS ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established by the Chippewa Valley Technical College Foundation Board of Directors in honor of Wayne R. Atkins who retired in June 1989. Mr. Atkins served as the Foundation's Executive Vice President beginning in 1975 when it was incorporated. The scholarship is awarded to an outstanding mathematics student in any program. The recipient is selected by the Mathematics instructors.

A scholarship to be awarded annually through the CVTC Foundation, Inc. The scholarship recipient will be selected by faculty of the Civil Engineering Technician - Structural program.

JERRY BARTHMAN MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP

The Electrical Power Distribution program instructors established this endowment with donations from family and friends in memory of Jerry Barthman. Jerry was a very special friend of Chippewa Valley Technical College. He was a lineman and troubleman for NSP for more than thirty years until his retirement in 1992. He was owner of Black's Linemen's Supply in Amery until his death on December 12, 1997. The program instructors will make selection of recipient.

JASON BOHAC MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship honors the memory of Jason Bohac: student, veteran, friend, brother, and son. Jason was passionate about life, and this scholarship seeks to award a Neillsville area student who is committed to academic goals and to "being his/her best." Recipient is selected by David & Melanie Bohac and a CVTC (Neillsville) teacher. An essay is required with this scholarship application.

The Bye, Goff, Rohde & Skow, Ltd. Paralegal Scholarship is awarded to a River Falls High School Senior, or a River Falls High School graduate enrolled in the Paralegal Program. This scholarship is awarded on grounds of merit and promise anticipated in pursuing a career within the legal profession. Bye, Goff, Rohde & Skow, Ltd. is a premier personal injury law firm, head quartered in River Falls, WI., protecting the rights of injured persons in Wisconsin and Minnesota for over 25 years.

CANCER REMISSION/SURVIVOR ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established to assist a student at CVTC who has been or currently is being treated for cancer; or who has a family member who is in their care who is currently being treated for cancer.

CARDINAL FG ELECTROMECHANICAL TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is sponsored by Cardinal FG (Menomonie, Wisconsin) to benefit a student enrolled in the CVTC Electomechanical Technology Program. Cardinal FG is a management-owned S-Corportion leading industry in the developmen of residential glass for windows and doors. Cardinal FG has grown to more than 5,500 employees located at 27 manufacturing locations around the United States.

R.E. CARTER MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established by Jim Carter, a past member of the CVTC Foundation Board of Directors, in honor of his father. Robert E. Carter was in the automobile business for almost 40 years as a salesman, car manager, general sales manager, and general manager. In 1959 he started Bob Carter Ford in South St. Paul and successfully operated that dealership until he sold it in 1987. The recipient of the scholarship must have a record of hard work, good attendance, a very positive attitude, and pursuing a career in the automobile business.

Consolidated Lumber Company established this endowment scholarship for a student enrolled in the Wood Tech program at the River Falls Campus. The Wood Tech River Falls Advisory Committee will review the applications and select the recipient.

DAIRY STATE BANK SCHOLARSHIP

Dairy State Bank was founded in 1952 when a group of local businessmen thought it was time to have a second bank in the City of Rice Lake. The bank begain with the support of many local residents purchasing one or two shares of stock to provide the initial capital investment. A number of those original investors are still owners of the bank. There are currently ten banking locations following the merger with First Bank & Trust of Menomonie that took place in March of 2008. The home office is located in Rice Lake with full service branches in Birchwood, Haugen, and Prairie Farm. The menomonie location has three offices in Menomonie with branches in Colfax, Downsville, and Wheeler. ELEANOR M. and LYLE D. HOULDER MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established by Eleanor M. and Lyle D. Houlder in their will to benefit a deserving student residing in Chippewa County. The Houlders were both life-long employees of the Northern Center for the Developmentally Disabled in Chippewa Falls, WI. Eleanor worked in the Accounting Department for 37 years and Lyle worked as an Electrician/Skilled Trades Supervisor for 34 years. The Houlders were instrumental in the establishment of the Northern Center (later renamed Valley Credit Union) Credit Union in 1953. Eleanor served as the Northern Center Credit Union’s Treasurer for its first 30 years. Lyle served as the Northern Center Credit Union’s Chairman of the Board of Directors for its first 26 years. A CVTC Foundation committee will determine the recipient of this scholarship from the applicants who are residents of Chippewa County Wisconsin.

CHARLES A. KAUFMAN MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established by the educational staff at the CVTC Neillsvile Center, family, and friends in memory of Specialist Charles A. Kaufman. Spc. Kaufman, of Fairchild, died June 26, 2005, while on duty in Iraq. Spc. Kaufman was part of the Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 128th Infantry in Eau Claire. He was the first student from CVTC who lost his life in the line of duty in Iraq. Charles was a student from the CVTC Neillsville Center where he earned his high school equivalency diploma. This scholarship will be given annually to fund the education of a student who completed his/her high school credential at CVTC.

The River City Street Rods Car Club holds an annual car show the first weekend of August in Chippewa Falls. Part of their proceeds from this event fund their annual scholarship. This scholarship was established in memory of Bob Straavaldson who was the founder of HVP Design, Inc., in 1988 and a member of the Air Conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration Technology Advisory Committee. The recipient will be selected by the board of directors at HVP Design, Inc.

AURA J. and RAYMOND R. STRONG MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established by the children of Aura J. and Raymond R. Strong, in honor of their parents. Aura was employed in the telecommunications industry for 33 years, while Raymond worked in the automotive industry and was the manager of a Cities Service bulk fuel delivery service. This scholarship is awarded at the end of the first semester to a deserving student enrolled in an electronics-based program in even-numbered years and awarded to a deserving student enrolled in an automotive-based program in odd-numbered years. The faculty of the respective programs will choose the most deserving student to receive this scholarship during the first semester of the appropriate year.

This scholarship is provided with funding from the Tillmann family. Debra Tillmann died on the day of her graduation from the Medical Laboratory Technician program in May 1980. Preference is given to those students who have no means of receiving financial assistance. The recipient is selected by the program instructors.
