West Regional Early Education Conference

This conference is for all Early Childhood Professionals who teach, care for, and direct programs for young children. There will be topics relating to management, infants and toddlers, preschool, school age, curriculum and environment. Early Childhood Professionals wishing to gain continuing education credit for attending the conference will need to complete a summary for each session attended.

Intro to Child Care Professional Module A

(Prior to January 2004, course title was Family Day Care Certification.) Beginning course for anyone interested in caring for children at home. This course includes the following topics: child growth and development, positive discipline, child abuse and neglect, interpersonal relationships, daily schedule, SIDS prevention, and health, safety, and nutrition. Book purchase required. Completion of this course (307-422) Intro to Child Care Prof-Mod A and (307-424) Fundamentals of Family Child Care meets the FDC requirements for a county certified in-home child care business.

Intro to Child Care Professional Module B

(Prior to January 2004, course title was Family Day Care Licensure) This course expands the knowledge and skills necessary for a home-centered child care business. This course will help you determine your policies and budget, observation and environment planning, positive guidance, relationships, developmentally appropriate activity planning and scheduling. Book purchase required. Completion of (307-422) Intro to Child Care Prof-Mod A, this course (307-423) Intro to Child Care Prof-Mod B, and (307-424) Fundamentals of Family Child Care meets the FDC certification and licensing requirements of becoming a state licensed in-home child care provider. Completion of (307-422) Intro to Child Care Prof-Mod A and this course (307-423) Intro to Child Care Prof-Mod B meet the Wisconsin educational requirements for a group center assistant child care teacher. Prerequisite(s): 307-422 Intro to Child Care Prof Mod A (or taken concurrently).

Fundamentals of Family Child Care

This course covers the business aspects of child care including recordkeeping, contracts, and specific topics that are fundamental for a family provider. This course can be taken by all in-home child care providers, experienced or not, and the individual responsible for the program's financial records. All course supplies are included. Completion of (307-422) Intro to Child Care Prof-Mod A and this course (307-424) Fundamentals of Family Child Care meets the FDC requirement for a county certified in-home child care business.

Shaken Baby Syndrome & SIDS

This class meets the requirements for certified and licensed early childhood daycare providers and early education professionals. Topics of study will include Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Shaken Baby Syndrome.
