Loan Borrowing Requirements

Master Promissory Note (MPN)

The MPN is a legally-binding contract between the U.S. Department of Education and a borrower. The promissory note contains the terms and conditions of the loan, including how and when the loan must be repaid.

1. Go to the Master Promissory Note website.
2. Choose Complete New MPN for Student Loans
3. Select Subsidized / Unsubsidized and click "Continue".

Loan Entrance Counseling

All students who have not previously received a Federal Direct Loan while attending CVTC must complete the online Loan Entrance Counseling.

The purpose of the Loan Entrance Counseling session is to inform students of their rights and obligations as Direct Loan borrowers. CVTC will be notified when the Loan Entrance Counseling requirement has been met. Students who received a Federal Stafford Loan while attending CVTC during the previous academic year are required to complete the Direct Loan Entrance Counseling.

Accept/Decline Your Student Loans

Accept or decline your loans by logging into MyCVTC, go to the Student Information System (SIS), under the Financial Aid Tab click, My Award Information, Award for Aid Year, select 2010-2011 from the drop down box, click submit and then click the Accept Award Offer tab.

Loan Exit Counseling

Student loan recipients who graduate, drop below half time enrollment status, or withdraw from classes, are required to complete Loan Exit Counseling. In addition to completing this one-time session, students must complete an online form. This form is forwarded to CVTC, notifying the Financial Aid Office that the Loan Exit Counseling requirement has been met.
