Paying for College

Receiving Your Aid

Review the items below to understand how the process of receiving your financial aid -- called disbursement -- works:

  • Your financial aid awarded funds are applied toward your unpaid balance first, which includes charges you may have on the Payment Plan. If your credited aid exceeds your CVTC charges, the Cashiers Office will refund you within thirteen (13) days of the applied credit.
  • If your charges exceed your aid, you must pay the balance.
  • Your total loan award for the aid year is disbursed equally among your enrolled terms.
  • Pell and SEOG funds are applied to your account the fifth week of the term.
  • You will be contacted by the Cashiers Office to sign any funding received in the form of a paper check.

Helpful Tips to Avoid Delays

  • Keep your address updated with CVTC.
  • Take care of "holds" which prohibit release of funds. CVTC must return loan funds within ten (10) days of receipt if a hold is on a student's account.

If you have federal loans, be sure to review and complete the Loan Borrowing Requirements.
