Yes, starting February 15th you may view the available classes by following the 2010 Schedule link and choosing Motorcycle Safety as the Department and Spring 2010 for the term. Please be aware this is available for your planning use only, registration begins on March 3rd.

Where are the classes held?
At our Transportation Education Center (also known as the Grudem Center) located at 4000 Campus Road, Eau Claire, in Room 102. This is the same campus where our Diesel, Electrical Power Distribution, and Truck Driver Training programs are located.

Can I register on line?
Yes, but you need to be set up as a student on our system. Call 715-833-6200 to get your personal information entered so you are able to web register. If it has been several years since you have taken classes, please call to update your information.

Who can attend? What if I am under 18?
Any Wisconsin resident 15 1/2 years of age or older may attend. However, you must be 16 and have proof that you have completed driver education before you can obtain a CYCI and/or Class M license. It is necessary that you know how to balance and ride a bicycle. Parents must sign for you if you are under the age of 18.

Do I need my driver's license to register?
No, but you will need to bring it to the class. You must have a valid driver's license or valid driver's license instruction permit.

No. You need a valid driver's license or valid driver's license instruction permit.

If I take your class, do I still need to take my written test at the DMV?
Yes. The state requires you to pass the written test and pay the permit fee prior to issuing your Class M license. You can take the written test either before our class or after you complete the BRC.

Do I have to take a driving test before DMV will issue my license?
No. Passing the BRC (Beginning Rider Course) waives the driving test (see below).
Waiver of SkillsTest
The motorcycle skills test, ordinarily required for a Class M license, may be waived if you successfully complete an approved Basic Rider Course, or a Sidecar/Trike Novice Course. Other requirements for waiver are:
You must pass the motorcycle .knowledge test and be at least 16 years of age.
If taking the course on a three-wheel vehicle, the Class M license will be restricted to “three-wheel vehicles,” only.
Note: An approved Basic Rider Course taken outside Wisconsin may be sufficient for waiver of Wisconsin skills test. Be sure to bring your waiver form or course completion card to DMV when you come to get your Class M license.

What do I need to bring along?
- Driver's license and/or instructional permit,
- Full fingered gloves,
- Eye protection,
- Long-sleeved shirt,
- Long pants,
- Low heeled shoes to cover the ankles,
- Rain gear,
- Pen and pencil, and
- Helmet (we do have helmets available if you do not have your own)

Can I bring my own motorcycle?
No, motorcycles are provided.

What if it rains?
The class will run. This is a rain or shine course so be prepared with rain gear or additional clothing.

What happens if I'm late for class?
You will be asked to leave and will not be able to complete. You will need to register and pay for another class.

What happens if I need to miss one of the sessions?
This is not an option. You must attend ALL course dates. Sign up for a class that does not conflict with your schedule.

How will I know what classes will be available this Summer and Fall?
The Summer and Fall classes will be available for viewing around the beginning of April. Prices in the Summer and Fall terms are subject to price changes with the new academic year.
