Apply to be the Student Speaker

for the Eau Claire Graduation Ceremony - December 2009

Submit typed speech (approximately 2-3 minutes in length) to Student Life Office (BEC 115) by 4 p.m.  Applicants are to sign up for a time to present speech on Tuesday, November 24, between 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. when turning in the speech. Only Graduating Students are eligible to apply.

Tuesday, November 24, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Students will present speech to a selection committee. Chosen student speaker will be announced the following day through e-mail.

Monday, November 30 - Monday, December 21
Review & rehearse speech with staff.

Tuesday, December 22
Practice speech at Graduation site. Present speech during the 7:00 p.m. Graduation Ceremony.

Judging of the Speech will be based on the following:

• Development of a central theme
• Relevance to all listeners
• Originality of ideas
• Comfort of presenter
• Overall impression
• When read at a normal speaking rate,presentation should be no longer than three minutes.
