Apply to be the Speaker

for the Eau Claire Graduation Ceremony - July 2008

By Thursday, July 10
Submit typed speech (approximately 3 minutes) to Student Life Office (ECB 115) by 4 p.m.  Applicants are to sign up for a time to present speech on Friday, July 11, between 12:30-1:30 p.m. when turning in the speech. Only Graduating Students are eligible to apply.

Friday, July 11, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.
Students will present speech to an evaluation team. Chosen student speaker will be announced the following Monday through e-mail.

Monday, July 14 - Wednesday, July 23
Review & rehearse speech with staff.

Thursday, July 24
Practice speech at Graduation site. Present speech during the 4:30 p.m. Graduation Ceremony.

Judging of the Speech will be based on the following:

• Development of a central theme
• Relevance to all listeners
• Originality of ideas
• Comfort of presenter
• Overall impression
• When read at a normal speaking rate,presentation should be no longer than three minutes.
