Waiting List
Waiting List Guidelines
- Applicants are placed on a waiting list based on their "eligibility date". The eligibility date is the date and time when an applicant completes all admissions requirements for eligibility to a program's core (major) courses.
- Once applicants are offered a place on a waiting list, they must complete a "Waiting List Confirmation" form. A signature on this form is required by State of Wisconsin Administrative Guidelines.
- Applicants placed on a waiting list may take classes as "pre-program" students. Applicants may indicate on the Waiting List Confirmation form if they want to be pre-program students while on a waiting list. In the case of health programs, they would not be allowed to take core (major) courses.
- The Admissions Office must be informed of all address changes and changes for telephone or cell phone numbers. People on waiting lists may miss required mailings or telephone calls if the College does not have an up-to-date address or phone number. This could result in their application being cancelled or bypassed for openings in the program core courses.
- Applicants who remain on a waiting list for a program after the start date they have requested will be sent a "Waiting List Carry-over Form". This is a time sensitive document. It must be completed and returned to the Admissions Office by the prescribed deadline. Applicants who submit the Waiting List Carry-over Form by the deadline maintain their original eligibility date. Forms submitted late are accepted; but, the eligibility date becomes the date Admissions receives the late Waiting List Carry-over Form.
- Students may not be on two (2) waiting lists for the same program if the program is offered at different locations. Current examples of this are the Nursing programs, Medical Assistant, and the Wood Technics program offered in both River Falls and Eau Claire.
- Experience has shown that waiting lists change considerably the closer it gets to the beginning of a term. This is true for most programs; and, it is especially true for Automotive Maintenance, Barber Cosmetology, Wood Technics, and Truck Driving. Consider how you will pay for school. Apply for financial aid in February of each potential school year.
- When an applicant has asked for two program choices, we honor them both if there is a waiting list for the first choice or for both choices. From that point, if an opening occurs in the first choice, we automatically eliminate the second choice. If an opening occurs in the second choice, we keep the applicant on the waiting list for the first choice.
- Applicants who change their minds regarding which program is a first choice and which is a second choice have an eligibility date based on the date of the change, not the original eligibility date.
- Pre-program students taking classes to remediate or establish program eligibility must submit a Core Course Eligibility Form to be placed on a waiting list. The CCE submission date becomes the eligibility date.
- Students may not be on both the Practical Nursing and the Nursing-Associate Degree program waiting lists. The first year of the curricula for these programs is the same.
