Careers and Employment
The field of marketing is booming in the twenty-first century. Marketing is the largest occupation in the United States. Between one-fourth and one-third of the entire work force are employed in marketing-related positions.

The number of possible marketing careers is enormous. Because of the knowledge of products and consumers gained in these jobs, marketing provides excellent training for the highest levels in the organization. The program prepares students for careers in:

  • Advertising
  • Marketing Management

  • Entrepreneurship
  • Market Research
  • Management
  • Sales Management
  • Marketing Logistics (Physical Distribution)

Salary
Marketing salaries vary by company and position. Moreover, if you succeed in an entry-level marketing position, it’s likely that you will be promoted quickly to higher levels of responsibility and salary.

Entry-level marketing salaries usually are only slightly below those for engineering and chemistry but equal or exceed starting salaries in economics, finance, accounting, general business, and the liberal arts. Because of the consumer and product knowledge you will gain in these jobs, marketing positions provide excellent training for the highest levels of the organization. A recent study by an executive recruiting firm found that more top executives come out of marketing than any other functional business area.
