FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What classes can I take in
high school to help prepare me to start the medical assisting program?
High school students
interested in pursuing a medical assistant career should take biology,
algebra, and keyboarding classes. Learning MS Windows will also help to
achieve success in the program.
I’ve been out of school for
many years. Am I too old to start a new career?
No! About half of
our current students are students who have years of experience in a
variety of fields. These experiences are a benefit to the students, their
peers and their future employers.
Chippewa Valley Technical College offers classes and
assistance in the
Study Skills
Center if you should need
to brush on up biology, keyboarding, test taking strategies, study skills,
and/or MS Windows
I
work during the day, but am interested in taking the medical assistant
program. Do you have evening classes?
Yes! Our
afternoon/evening program starts every January. All of the classes are held
during the afternoon and evening hours with the exception of the daytime
externship. The externship class is during the final six weeks of the
program in November and December.
I work fulltime, but I want
to start the program. Can I do this?
Going to school
full-time is like working full-time. For students who must continue to work
full-time, we encourage them to
contact a
counselor at Chippewa Valley Technical College. The counselor can help
students develop a plan on how to complete the required courses on a time
frame that will increase their success in the program.
