Last updated: March 10, 2004 |
The Surgical Technologist program is a one-year adventure including a six-week summer session. The program is accredited by CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs), which allows the graduates of the program to sit for the certification examination. Over the course of the year, you will learn the skills necessary to provide you with an entry-level status for a surgical technologist career. The skills you will learn will include aseptic technique, instrumentation and uses, case setup, draping the patient, gowning and gloving, and transferring and positioning patients in the on-campus classroom lab. The clinical portion gives you the opportunity to practice the concepts learned in the on-campus lab. Finally, you are placed into a work setting as an intern surgical technologist the last six weeks of the final semester. For Course Description and
