Students for Democratic Process

“It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because
you can only do a little.  Do what you can.”
                                                                                                                Sydney Smith

Students for Democratic Process (SDP) is a new student club for ANY student at CVTC.   Your opinions do make a difference! Let your voice be heard!

The SDP club is designed to provide education and active involvement in the democratic decision-making process at the college, community, and legislative levels.  We aim to:

  • promote democratic principles in civic and collegial decision-making

  • provide educational opportunities for classes, clubs and individuals to raise awareness of democratic principles and application in daily events

  • develop a network of individuals to support and promote students’ rights and responsibilities in work, civic, and school environments

Democratic decision-making = Majority affected has the authority (directly or via elected representatives) to determine outcomes, such as the following:

  • tuition increases
  • parking availability
  • regulation of chronic waste disease
  • grading disputes
  • student activity fees
  • merging of county/city law enforcement
  • closing of the CVTC Child Care Center
  • bookstore prices
  • minimum wage
  • your concerns

Get involved--help promote democracy right here in the USA--at CVTC, in your community, and in your career field!
