Farm Business & Production Management Overview

CVTC offers a great program for anyone wishing to further their education in production agriculture on a part-time basis. The Farm Business & Production Management (FBPM) program provides students with the skills necessary to manage the resources used in the successful operation of a farm business. FBPM covers six years of part-time instruction and Cash Grain Production classes, which are a series of classes offered in a three-year rotation. Classes include group sessions and on-the-farm individual consultation.

Benefits of enrolling in this program include:

  • Staying current with changing farm technology
  • Networking with other producers and industry professionals
  • On-farm consultations focusing on producers’ individual needs (business planning, forage analysis, soil sampling and interpretation, nutrient management planning, financial analysis, and animal husbandry, etc.)
  • Farm and industry tours
  • District-wide seminars and trainings with industry professionals

  • Farm Business Analysis & Marketing Strategies
  • Land Use Management
  • Farm Business Planning & Risk Management

Cash Grain Production courses include:

  • Advanced Cultural Practices in Agronomy
  • Facilities & Equipment Management
  • Marketing & Financial Management
