Fifteen years after graduating from CVTC, Doug Feck seized an opportunity to start Packer Fastener & Supply Inc. in Green Bay with two colleagues.
Today the business has grown to two branches, with a third opening this year.
His journey to company ownership started after he began attending a public university and later switched to the technical college. “My father talked me into trying CVTC instead,” Doug says. “I am so grateful for the good advice.”
Doug completed an associate degree in Marketing, graduating in 1984 after three semesters. While still attending school he had attended a recruiting visit by Fastenal Company and accepted an entry level job. He spent 15 years with the company, moving to Winona, Indianapolis, Wausau, and Green Bay as his career took off.
In 1999 Doug and two colleagues started Packer Fastener & Supply, which sells standard and custom-made quality fasteners like anchors, bolts, brass fittings, hardware and other products.
“CVTC provided a very sound foundation for my career,” Doug says. “I have used the skills I gained in my accounting, inventory control, and sales classes.”
Not only did he gain education, Doug made good friends and enjoyed the curriculum and faculty.
“My favorite memories are meeting friends for breakfast in the cafeteria and watching my friend eat one dozen donuts on a bet!”
