Program Description


CVTCs Paralegal Program, which has been providing quality paralegal instruction in the Chippewa Valley since 1978, is approved by the American Bar Association (ABA) and is a member of the American Association for Paralegal Education (AAfPE). The ABA is the most widely recognized accrediting body of paralegal programs in the United States. The ABA ensures that approved paralegal programs maintain high standards in their curriculum, faculty, library and student resources.

Paralegals use legal knowledge and skills to assist lawyers in preparing legal forms and documents such as:

• Partnership Agreement
• Articles of Incorporation
• Simple Will
• Legal Memorandum
• Trial Brief
• Appellate Brief
• Interrogatories
• Search Warrant
• Criminal Complaint

• Divorce Petition and Property Schedules
• Workers’ Compensation Application and Medical Forms

While they cannot practice law, paralegals may research the law and investigate facts. Paralegals work under the supervision of lawyers in:

• Insurance companies
• Real estate offices
• Financial institutions
• Government offices and agencies
