A recent ordinance adopted by the Eau Claire City Council now allows immediate prosecution of individuals who violate tenant limits in rental units. The ordinance applies to both landlords and tenants. An example of such a violation would be four tenants in an apartment in a zoning district that only allows three. Students should check on tenant limits before renting dwelling units or signing leases.
