Candidate Physical Ability Test

CPAT and the Regional Hiring Process

All candidates must complete the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) at the Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, WI as a requirement of hire. We will not accept CPAT taken at any other location.

To Register for the CPAT

  • Download Registration Form.
  • Scan and send to jblum4@cvtc.edu or Send via mail to Marcy Bruflat, Fire Training Program Director, Chippewa Valley Technical College, 620 W. Clairemont Avenue Eau Claire, WI 54701

Enter your credit card information on the form or you may pay the $100.00 fee via a check made out to Chippewa Valley Technical.

Attendance is optional, but you MUST complete the CPAT waiver if you choose not to attend. View waiver.

The Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) is a sequence of eight events requiring you to progress along a predetermined path from event to event in a continuous manner. This test was developed to allow fire departments to find pools of trainable candidates who are physically able to perform essential job tasks at fire scenes.
