​Each fire department has different requirements for employment.

Live within a 20-minute response time of city limits within six months of hire.​

  • Preferred associate degree in Fire Protection or related field.

 

Three-year residency requirement within six months of hire.

  • Firefighter/EMT-P: National Registry or State Licensure as EMT-P (or eligible for these credentials).

 

Must live within 15 miles of the Central Fire Station within the first year.​

Red Wing

 

  • at least 18 years of age
  • Valid Driver's License
  • High School Diploma or GED/HSED
  • Firefighter II Certification (IFSAC Accredited, if not a Minnesota certificate).
  • Nationally Registered EMT-Paramedic (or eligible for these credentials).
  • Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) must be submitted with application or received within six months of hire.

 

Domiciled within 20 minutes of primary work station, within six months of hire.

  • at least 18 years of age
  • Valid Driver's License
  • High School Diploma or GED/HSED
  • State of Wisconsin Firefighter II or equivalent.
  • Nationally Registered EMT-Paramedic.
Must live within fifteen miles and 20 minutes from the Fire Station within 30 days of hire.​

Stevens Point

 

  • at least 18 years of age
  • Valid Driver's License
  • High School Diploma or GED/HSED
  • Associate degree (Fire Protection, Fire Science, Paramedic, or related field preferred)

- OR -

  • minimum of 50 college-level credits (Fire Science or related field preferred).
  • Nationally Registered and State of Wisconsin licensed EMT-Paramedic or eligible for same. Must have National Registry to receive offer of employment.
  • Firefighter II certification (WTCS Board or IFSAC Accredited).
  • Driver/Operator Pumper and Aerial certification preferred.
Must live in Portage County within six months of successful completion of probation.​
Yes
Superior

 

  • at least 18 years of age
  • Valid Driver's License
  • High School Diploma or GED/HSED
  • Not over 55 years of age at time of testing
  • Must have successfully completed an accredited course in Firefighter I and II, Certified Firefighter I and II and
  • EMT Basic Certification required by time of hire.  
Residency within 30-minute response time from the corporate limits of the City of Superior within 18 of hire.​
