Residency Requirements

​Each department has different residency requirements.

Requirements
Antigo Fire Department

Must live fifteen air miles from the city limits.​

Ashland Fire Department

Must live within a ten-mile radius from the city limits.​

Chippewa Falls Fire/Emergency Services

Must live within a 20-minute response time of city limits within six months of hire.​

Chippewa Fire District

Must live within Chippewa Falls School District or Chippewa Fire District.​

Eau Claire Fire and Rescue

No residency requirement.​

La Crosse Fire Department
Three-year residency requirement within six months of hire.
Marshfield Fire and Rescue

Must live within 15 miles of the Central Fire Station within the first year.​

Menomonie Fire and Rescue

Must live within 15 minutes of Fire Station One within the first year.​

Onalaska Fire Department

Must live within the fire district within six months of hire.​

Red Wing Fire Department
Domiciled within 20 minutes of primary work station, within six months of hire.
Rhinelander Fire Department

Must live within fifteen miles and 20 minutes from the Fire Station within 30 days of hire.​

Stevens Point Fire Department

Must live in Portage County within six months of successful completion of probation.​
