CVTC’s dual credit opportunities offer students and families no-cost college courses in convenient locations, helping students explore careers, earn college credit in high school, and jumpstart their goals! There are three different ways to earn dual credit: High School Academies, Start College Now, and Transcripted Credit.

EXPLORE 3 WAYS TO EARN DUAL CREDIT

HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIES

Students take college classes in a career pathway and earn high school and college credit. Courses are reserved for high school students taught by CVTC faculty at their high school, a CVTC host site, or a CVTC campus.

START COLLEGE NOW

High school juniors and seniors can apply to take classes at CVTC that are not offered at their high school. Students can register for a course with other CVTC students if a seat is available at registration.

TRANSCRIPTED CREDIT

Students can earn dual credit by taking CVTC courses offered at their high school and taught by high school instructors. These instructors have met CVTC licensing requirements and worked with CVTC faculty to match the curriculum.

It Saves You Money:

College credits cost, on average, about $600/credit. That adds up quickly! You can lower your college cost by taking college classes and earning college credit in high school.

It Saves You Time:

You can complete up to two years of college credit in high school. Earning credits early can go a long way toward ensuring a bachelor’s degree completion in four years or less.

You Can Transfer Credits:

Many CVTC credits transfer to many universities, including UW-Eau Claire, UW-River Falls, and UW-Stout.

You're More Prepared:

You’ll have access to CVTC services, including Academic Support, Diversity Resources, Technology Support, and Academic Advisors. 84% of students were successful in dual credit courses.

There are 75+ different transcripted credit courses and 15+ high school academies, ensuring a wide range of options for your educational journey.
