Students were given a chance to work one-on-one with a Barber Cosmetologist student to get a makeover that included a new hairstyle, hair color options, and makeup suggestions. The best part of the whole deal was that the makeovers were free!
Casey Peterson set up an appointment with Barber Cosmetologist student Tiffany Lebal for a consultation. Casey, a part-time student in the Administrative Professional program, is married with two sons. She told Tiffany she wanted a "wash and go" hairstyle. They worked together to find a hairstyle Casey liked. After her initial consultation, Casey returned to Shear Inspiration CVTC Salon and Spa to get her new hairstyle. Casey said of Tiffany, "She was very professional and worked with me to find a hairstyle I liked." Casey was very pleased with Tiffany's work and said the whole experience more than met her expectations.
Deborah Miner-Shong, a full-time, first-semester student in the AP program was teamed up with Abby Lindahl. Based on Deborah's face shape, they found a hairstyle for her, an inverted bob. At her first session Abby cut and colored Deborah's hair, and at the second session Deborah's hair was foiled and two highlighting colors applied. Abby also gave Deborah suggestions on applying makeup and colors that would look good on her.
When asked about her experience, Deborah said, "It made me feel good. I was so happy with how it turned out - the cut, the color, everything!" She has received a lot of compliments from her instructors, classmates, her sister, and her husband, who, according to Deborah, is her biggest critic. She also said that Abby will make a wonderful beautician.
In all, 17 students took advantage of the free makeovers.
