CVTC students are now proud to be a part of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). A charter ceremony was recently held as part of the Chippewa Valley SHRM (CV SHRM) group where the students received their official plaque along with a donation from CV SHRM to help further fund their new club.
“This is an exciting day for our students,” stated Kris Sperstad, Human Resources program instructor. “They have worked hard to get to this point and deserve the recognition they are receiving.”
Amanda Bauer, current Human Resource program student, wanted to make the most out of her time at CVTC. She knew about CV SHRM and thought that creating a student group would help everyone in her program have a head start when it came to looking for a job once she graduated. “Students have really shown a lot of enthusiasm,” Amanda stated enthusiastically. “This group got started in Spring 2011 and we had about 19 student members. Now with new students coming in this semester, we’re up to 32. We are very excited to offer this opportunity to our students.”
Currently, the students are coming up with fund-raising activities to help get them to the state SHRM conference in March. “The money we received from the CV SHRM will go a long way,” Amanda added.
