Nanoscience Students Take First Prize

A team of five Nano program students took first prize at the 3rd Annual Nano-Link Conference poster contest on October 11, 2011, in Minneapolis. The competing schools, all two-year colleges with nanoscience programs, represented Wisconsin, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Illinois. The winning team members from Chippewa Valley Technical College were Alex Mahr, Dylan Lieding, Stacy Atchison, Andrew Turczyn, and Matt Ingebretson. 

The poster was titled Carbon Nanotube Reinforced Epoxy. First prize was $600 in gift cards.

CVTC Nanoscience Graduate Ken Kafer participated in a graduate panel at the same conference. Ken does research and development for Cargill, Inc., in Minnetonka, Minnesota. 

The team thanked instructor Dave Thompson and the Machine Tooling Technics program for the use of its strength testing equipment.
