Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) will host a meeting of the Indianhead Chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Thursday, Sept. 20, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Gateway campus.
Professionals, students and members of the public interested in manufacturing are all welcome to come hear keynote speaker Michael J. Schlagenhaufer, a manager and Mathews Bow Inc. of Sparta, who will speak on “A Lean Manufacturing Culture.”
The SME’s mission is to advance knowledge and educate students and senior members in manufacturing and technology to best serve the manufacturing community. Meetings provide an opportunity for people in a variety of manufacturing industries to network with one another and learn how to improve their own operations.
Topics for discussion at the meeting will include reports on the June international meeting in Cleveland, Ohio; the upcoming annual meeting in Orlando, Fla.; SME certifications and educational preparations; and upcoming October 2012 Manufacturing Month activities. A number of door prizes will be given away and raffle tickets for Packer game tickets will be available.
Participants are asked to RSVP with a voice message to Tom Vanderloop at CVTC at 715-874-4612. Donations are appreciated for the event, with a $5 charge for students. The CVTC Gateway campus is located at 2320 Alpine Road, Eau Claire.
