Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC ) was honored with a 2013 Biennial Economic Development Award by the Wisconsin Economic Development Association at an awards ceremony Feb. 7 in Madison.
CVTC was nominated for the award by the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation for its outstanding employer-employee based programs, technical certificate programs serving employers, workforce development efforts, associate degree programs and high school programs.
“Chippewa Valley Technical College takes its role in economic development very seriously, and we continue to work hard to help local companies by meeting their needs with highly trained workers in a variety of fields,” states Bruce Barker, CVTC president. “Economic development is best approached as a partnership, and we are proud to partner with business and industry and other agencies to forward the economic health of west central Wisconsin. We would like to thank WEDA for this recognition of our efforts.”
Also among the winners presented with awards at the Governor’s Conference on Economic Development was Chippewa Falls-based Progressive Rail, which provides freight rail service to Chippewa Falls and communities to the north. Progressive Rail was also nominated by CCEDC.
“The roles both CVTC and PR play are diverse and needed for successful economic development,” stated CCEDC President/CEO Charlie Walker. “I look forward to strengthening the partnership with these economic development team players as we work to expand the Wisconsin workforce and economic base.”
