Classes start August 29th and CVTC faculty and staff will come back to a wealth of changes.
The new public website was revamped earlier this summer giving the college a fresh, modern look and feel as well as a more streamlined sitemap.
Some big physical changes took place. Construction of the new student commons at the Clairemont Campus will wrap up just before the start of classes. The cafeteria has now moved from the basement to the front of this building. It ties in the look of the Learning Center that was completed last fall. The construction gives the front building a much needed face lift and will help to give CVTC students a casual and comfortable place to study, eat, and socialize. The Clairemont Campus has long been a commuter campus, but the latest construction project will help foster the on-campus community that CVTC strives for.
The outside of the Clairemont Campus also received some sprucing up; with help from the Landscape, Plant and Turf Management program, new landscaping was created to give the exterior a welcoming feel. A new Centennial Circle pays tribute to the College’s past by marking our Centennial year in 2012 and incorporates some historic architectural features from the building.
If you head out to our Gateway Campus on the west side of Eau Claire, you’ll find a 10,000 square foot addition to this building to accommodate the expansion of the welding program. Due to demand from local business and industry, CVTC is now offering a two year technical diploma in welding and to make this work, we had to increase the type of equipment needed for the students to gain the necessary training for the workforce.
So, the look of CVTC is certainly changing and we invite you to stop in anytime and look around. Faculty and staff are certainly excited to have the students back on campus using these beautiful new spaces.
