Effective February 22, 2008, the admission requirements for the Nursing-Associate Degree and Practical Nursing programs at the Chippewa Valley Technical College have changed. The COMPASS pre-entry assessment with required minimums will be the primary assessment used to determine eligibility. If you are already accepted for core courses or on the waiting list, these changes will not apply to you.

The ACT with new minimum scores as listed below will continue to be accepted as a substitute for the COMPASS. The TABE, SAT and Accuplacer will not be acceptable substitutions.

The new requirements are as follows:

Nursing-Associate Degree

• COMPASS Reading 85; Algebra 30; Writing (required section but no minimum score) OR 
• ACT Reading 22; Math 22; English (required section but no minimum score) 
• There are no remedial options; applicants must re-test until necessary minimums are achieved. 
• A Bachelor Degree or higher will be accepted in lieu of COMPASS or ACT.

Practical Nursing 

• COMPASS Reading 80; Pre-Algebra 45; Writing (required section but no minimum score) OR 
• ACT Reading 19; Math 18; English (required section but no minimum score) 
• There are no remedial options; applicants must re-test until necessary minimums are achieved. 
• An Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree, or higher will be accepted in lieu of COMPASS or ACT.
