CVTC Automotive Students Can Repair Your Vehicle!
The Automotive Maintenance Technician Program at CVTC is a one year, 32 week program. The program is designed to give students entry-level knowledge for starting a career as an automotive technician. As the name implies, the program focuses instruction on maintenance related repairs on vehicles, such as oil changes, brakes, suspension, tires, tune-ups, wheel alignment. Courses in anti-lock brakes and computer controls are also part of the curriculum. This one year program is identical to the first year of the two year Automotive Technician Program.
The Automotive Technician Program at CVTC is a two year, five semester program. The second year begins the summer term immediately after completing the Automotive Maintenance Technician Program. This program is meant for students who desire to be a well-rounded entry-level technician with skills in all areas of repair. Instruction builds on skills acquired during the first year, while learning new skills in air conditioning, automatic and manual transmissions, engine repair, safety and security systems, alternative fuels & hybrid vehicles. Becoming a confident and competent employee, service department management, and owning your own repair shop are other areas of learning in this program. All students wishing to enroll in this program must first successfully complete the Automotive Maintenance Technician Program.
