Chippewa Valley Technical College has implemented a “Petition Process” for students seeking admission to the Associate Degree Nursing Program beginning with the fall 2010 class. Similar processes have been put in place in other Wisconsin technical colleges for high demand programs.
The changes are designed to improve student readiness. An outline of program admission requirements can be found at:
http://www.cvtc.edu/pages/423.asp . Information sessions are scheduled in Eau Claire and River Falls for more information.
Students seeking admission to the Associate Degree Nursing Program in the Fall 2010 or later, will need to fulfill requirements, work toward completion of a number of general education courses, and petition to begin taking nursing courses.
“Preparation and program readiness are essential for student success. The demands of the nursing program and nursing require thorough preparation,” said Dr. Ellen Kirking, Vice President of Education at CVTC.
"Beginning core technical courses in nursing requires a great commitment on the student’s part. The petition process allows students to decide if this is the right time for them," said CVTC Nursing Program Director Linda Londre.
