Dialysis Technician Certification Exam Prep

Renal Dialysis Chippewa Valley Technical College is providing a preparation course for the Dialysis Technician Certification Exam. This course includes a review of the Dialysis Technician core curriculum, practice exams, confidence-building exercises, group activities, lecture, and test-taking strategies. The course will also cover content in which the technician examinations measure technical proficiency in certain skills and general areas of knowledge. The audience is dialysis patient care technicians; no prerequisites. The CHT Exam will take place at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on the Clairemont Campus.

The format of these courses is one night per week for 3 hours for three consecutive weeks or one 8-hour Saturday offering.

The six major domains of practice and tasks which technicians perform in the scope of hemodialysis technology are:

Water Treatment (in accordance to AMMI guidelines)

- Testing/validation/evaluation

- Personal/professional development
- Quality-related issues
Test-taking strategies; preparation, strategies, relaxation techniques

Why Take This Certification?

Regulations for the Dialysis Technician now mandate that current technicians have until April 2010 to become certified. Any technicians hired currently will have 18 months to become certified. Certification must be obtained through passing a nationally recognized exam. This certification will need to be renewed as required by testing organization.
