Entry Level Firefighter Part 1

This 30-hour course is the first course leading to Firefighter I certification. Entry Firefighter part I and II are required before a firefighter can enter a burning building.

Entry Level Firefighter Part 2

This 30-hour course is the second course leading to Firefighter I certification. Entry firefighter I and II are required before a firefighter can enter a burning building. This course includes 6 hours of live fire training and hazardous material awareness.

Firefighter 1

This course is the administration of the practical portion of the state certification for Firefighter I. The students will complete the hands-on application of Firefighter I practical skills.

Fire Instructor 1

Methods of teaching fire service subjects on the in-service and technical college level through an analysis of objectives, approaches, methods of presentation, testing and materials. The student will determine and relate, in writing, the needs of fire department training and education and will demonstrate his ability to plan, implement, manage, and evaluate instruction. The student will demonstrate: ability in utilizing appropriate methods in teaching a fire service subject; an acquired skill in the utilization of selected audio visual equipment; and will construct a Unit Plan on a fire department subject, utilizing "Behavioral Terms." Prerequisite(s): 503-495A Instructional Tech Co Officers.

Hazardous Material Operations

This is a training requirement for Firefighter II. First responders at the operational level are part of the initial response to a hazardous substance release for the purpose of protecting people, property, and the environment. Concepts are provided on procedures, usage, and related considerations, following the basic chronology of a hazardous materials incident. The underlying themes include personal safety and self-defense, first responder roles in emergency response systems, the diverse nature of hazardous material incidents and related defensive measures.
