The Information Technology-Programmer/Analyst (ITPA) program prepares students as software developers. Skills obtained will support employment in business and eBusiness environments. Major skills that students can achieve include:
- Use problem solving and analytical thinking to create software solutions for employer.
- Develop and/or modify computer applications and web sites.
- Utilize technology and programming tools that interact with databases.
- Write test and document programs.
- Design and develop 3D models and simulations.
The ITPA Program provides students with a choice of two emphases (tracks): the Programmer Emphasis or the Simulation Emphasis. Each emphasis focuses on a specific set of skills; however, both tracks share many of the same courses. The first semester courses are the same for both emphases, giving students a semester to decide which emphasis they prefer. In addition, many students complete both emphases to obtain a broader skill set, leading to a wider variety of job possibilities.
Check out the program plan for the list of courses required for the program.
