Apprenticeships
An Apprenticeship is a training strategy that combines supervised, structured on-the-job training with related instruction. It is sponsored by employers, employer associations or labor/management groups that have the ability to hire and train in a working environment. Apprenticeships enable people to enter a skilled occupation and achieve journeylevel status.
The related instruction is theoretical and technical, and is usually provided by the Wisconsin Technical College System. If the apprenticeship is for two years of less, then the related instruction is at least 144 hours per year. If the apprenticeship is for more than two years, then the school provision must be for no less than 400 hours during the term of the apprenticeship.
CVTC offers an Associate Degree in Technical Skills to individuals who have completed an apprenticeship program and are journeymen. The degree is specific to the occupational goals of the individual seeking the degree. Please contact a program counselor at 715-833-6346.
