International Student Expenses
All applicants seeking an F-1 student visa, or who are applying to maintain their F-1 student status, must document that they have sufficient funds to cover all expenses while attending Chippewa Valley Technical College. No international applicants will be accepted until this requirement is satisfactorily completed. See below for amounts required.
Please note that the cost of living expenses are only an estimate; the student's program and standard of living will determine the actual amount. If the student remains in Eau Claire for the summer months, additional funds for living expenses may be needed.
International students pay out-of-state tuition. For the 2007-2008 school year, out-of-state tuition is $570.55 per credit. Applicants are required to document that a total of U.S.
$24,520.00 is available for the first year of schooling. See breakdown, below:
| Tuition costs for one year (based on 30 credits per year): | $17,127.00 |
| Estimated living expenses: | 7,000.00 |
| Student health insurance | 625.00 |
| Books and materials (average) | 850.00 |
| Total: | $25,602.00 |
Prospective international students who are unable to pay the out-of-state tuition rate may request an Out-of-State Tuition Waiver Application. Each semester, a limited number of students are determined 'needy and worthy' based on their family's financial situation. If approved as 'needy and worthy,' these students become eligible to pay in-state tuition, which is $92.05 per credit for the 2007-2008 school year. Once the Out-of-State Tuition Waiver Application is approved, these students need to document that a total of $10,846.00 is available for the first year of schooling. See breakdown, below:
| Tuition costs for one year (based on 30 credits per year): | $2,762.00 |
| Estimated living expenses: | 7,000.00 |
| Student health insurance | 625.00 |
| Books and materials (average) | 850.00 |
| Total: | $11,237.00 |
Please Note: US Immigration and Custom Enforcement regulations prohibit international students from working off-campus. Although USCIS regulations permit part-time, on-campus employment, there are FEW on-campus work opportunities at Chippewa Valley Technical College. International students should not plan to work to pay for expenses.
