Hybrid - How it Works

Hybrid courses are courses in which a portion of the learning and coursework have been moved online and time traditionally spent in the classroom is reduced but not eliminated.

How it Works

  1. Select:

    Select an individual courses in this format that has a topic of interest to you. Since Hybrid is a blend of online learning and traditional in class sessions, we suggest you review some of the online learning modules (available beginning October 2007).
  2. Begin:

    Register and order your books and course materials. Your course normally will begin with a traditional face to face session. During that session, your instructor will explain how the course will be divided between online learning and traditional meetings.
  3. Attend:

    Attendance is critical in two formats. Your class will meet a limited amount of time face to face, and the rest of the meetings will be in a Flexible format online. The online portion you can attend when you need to from where you need to! Your online learning portion of the classroom is anywhere you are with an internet connection!
  4. Blackboard:

    Once you are registered, you will be using a course management software called Blackboard or Bb. Your instructor will use Bb to organize and structure many of your course materials, assignments, and to facilitate engaging discussions as well as group activities. There are specific resources to help you learn and navigate Blackboards platform. Hybrid provides the in class connect to these materials.
  5. Participate:

    Participation is very unique in a Hybrid. Your instructor will blend participation opportunities via in class activities, as well as online learning opportunities. You will participate like any traditional class during the week, sometimes in class, and sometimes online. Participation is KEY to your success!!
  6. Learn:

    Hybrid learning can be enriching, interactive, and very effective, it combines the value of meeting face to face with the flexibility of participating online. If you commit to completing your course requirements and participating in the community that develops in class and online, you can be very successful.
  7. Finish Course:

    Successful completion comes from participation in both elements, online learning as well as attendance in your traditional class. Students find success with this flexible options when they commit early and structure their time to commit to this learning method. After completing this course select your next and register.
