Accelerated - How it Works

Accelerated Learning is a systematic approach to teaching the whole person, containing specific core elements that, when used together, empower students to potentially learn faster, and more effectively.

How it Works

Individual course are available in this format or apply for admission to our Supervisor Management program that offers all of its course in this 8 week accelerated format.
  2. Begin:

Register and order your books and course materials. Most of these courses meet face to face during convenient evening times that work well for working adults.
  3. Attend:

Attendance is critical! Your class will meet a limited amount of time face to face so being there is key to success. There are only 24 class hours per course compared to a traditional 48, so expect substantial homework requirements outside of class time. For example, you will receive an assignment due at the first class meeting.
  4. Blackboard:

While accelerated learning is face to face, often and instructor will use a course management software called Blackboard or Bb. Your instructor could use Bb to organize and structure many of your course materials, assignments, and to facilitate engaging discussions as well as group activities. There are specific resources to help you learn and navigate Blackboards platform.
  5. Participate:

Participation is required for successful completing. With limited class time, learners are expected to participate in their class. Often team or group work is required, and participation is critical to your success. You willl participate like any traditional course, except in the format, with limited meeting time, class time will be used and managed carefully making attendance critical. Participation is KEY to your success!!
  6. Learn:

Accelerated learning is enriching, interactive, and very effective, it honors a variety of learning styles and is presented in an engaging way. You will participate in your learning! That is core to the design, and will have a substantial commitment to work both inside and outside of your course.
  7. Finish Course:

Successful completion comes from participation in class and completing the rigorus requirements expected outside of class. Students find success with this flexible limited meeting time option because they are motivated to learn, and can manage their time well. Once you have completed this course, select your next and register. CVTC has flexible offerings that work for you!
