Connecting to Wireless Using Windows XP

Secured wireless is now available at all CVTC campuses. When connected with a personal device, you will have access to the Internet only and not to any other CVTC network resources. The instructions below show how to use the built-in Windows XP utility to set up a wireless network connection.

  • A current CVTC employee/student username and password

At this point, the wireless profile has been configured on the device. You may need to disable then enable your wireless connection and/or you may need to reboot your device for the connectivity to get established.

Depending upon how your device operates, you will probably see some connectivity notice in the System Tray next to the clock. You will be prompted to enter your username and password. This is the same account information you use to log into CVTCs workstations and VISTA. You do not need to enter a domain name.

If you need assistance setting up the wireless connectivity, please contact the help desk at 715-830-5555 or toll free at 877-241-1823. The Help Desk will help with setting up the wireless profile using the Windows utility, confirming your account status and general availability of wireless. They will provide limited assistance in troubleshooting your personal hardware issues and the use of OEM wireless utilities.
