Secured wireless is now available at all CVTC campuses. When connected with a personal device, you will have access to the Internet only and not to any other CVTC network resources. The instructions below show how to use the built-in Windows VISTA utility to set up a wireless network connection.
REQUIREMENTS:
Wireless hardware that supports WPA authentication with AES or TKIP encryption
A current CVTC employee/student username and password
Configuring your Wireless Device
From the Start Menu, choose Connect To.
Click the Set up a connection or network option near the bottom of the window.
Choose Manually connect to a wireless network. Click Next to proceed.
You will be prompted to choose your wireless adapter. Select Wireless Network Connection from the drop down. Click Next to proceed.
Enter cvtcwireless for the Network name.
Choose WPA-Enterprise for the security type.
Choose TKIP for the Encryption type.
Check the Start this connection automatically check box.
Click Next to proceed.
You will be informed that you have successfully configured the wireless network. Click the Change Connection Settings option to further configure the wireless network.
A new window will appear. On the Connection tab uncheck Connect to a more preferred network if available and check Connect even if the network is not broadcasting.
Click the Security Tab. Uncheck Cache user information for subsequent connections to this network.
Click the Settings button.
Uncheck Validate server certificate. Click the Configure button.
Uncheck Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any).
Click on OK. OK any remaining opened windows to save your settings.
A message will pop up in the bottom right corner of your screen saying Additionalinformation is required to connect to cvtcwireless. Click this message to proceed.
You will then be prompted for your CVTC username and password. For the domain, enter CVTC. You will need to enter these credentials any time you wish to use the CVTC wireless network.
