Getting Your Username
To obtain a username you need your student ID number. If you do not know it, call the Help Desk. Once you have your student ID:
- Logon to My CVTC at http://mycvtc.cvtc.edu
- Click the What is My Username? link
- Enter your ID and you will be given your username
- Once you have a username you will need to set a password (see below).
Setting Your Password
Logon to My CVTC at http://mycvtc.cvtc.edu
- Click the First Time Users link
- Fill out the online form. This form will ask you to set information such as registration information, a secret question, a PIN, and a password that must meet the Security Standards.
It is important to frequently change your password as a security precaution.
- Login to My CVTC at http://mycvtc.cvtc.edu
- Select the Change My Password link on the My CVTC homepage
- A window will appear asking for your username, old password, and new password. Your new password must adhere to the Security Standards.
- You will then get a confirmation screen stating that your password has been changed. Please allow up to five (5) minutes for this change to be processed

On the log-in page of My CVTC you will see a Forgot My Password link. Click this link and a window will appear asking for authentication information. You can then enter a new password (it must conform to the
Security Standards).
Your CVTC password must meet the following requirements:
- the password must be at least 6 characters long
- the password must contain at least one characteristic from each of these groups:
- uppercase letters (A-Z)
- lowercase letters (a-z)
- numbers (0-9)
- Additionally, you may use a special character: ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) + = _ - { } [ ]
