Physical Therapist Assistant Program

Program Information

Senior StretchingThe field of physical therapy is an exciting profession that offers many different opportunities for personal and professional development.

The Physical Therapist Assistant program at Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) is a two year program that will result in an Associate in Applied Science Degree. This program is composed of three major components: lecture, lab, and clinical. Each of these three components will prepare students for employment as a physical therapist assistant and also for taking the national licensure exam.

The curriculum has been arranged to reflect a progression in course content from simple to more complex. A great deal will be required of students as they move through the program and develop increased skills and knowledge in the field of physical therapy. Students will repeatedly be required to USE the information that they learn; integrating information from multiple courses/resources to create a solution to a patient problem. This is what the work environment will be—each patient, each situation is different, and you cannot memorize an answer that will work in all situations. Your program of study will prepare you to take the licensure examination for employment as a physical therapist assistant in the state of Wisconsin, and other states.
