Next Steps
You’re Accepted to the CVTC…Now What? Listed below are steps you will want to be aware of leading up to the first day of classes.
Enrollment Confirmation:
- Prior to the beginning of the semester you will be contacted by the Admissions Office and asked to confirm your attendence. You will be sent a letter with a specific confirmation number and asked to confirm that you plan to come. You will be directed to go to a specific web site to verify your plans.
- If the enrollment confirmation deadline is missed, we assume you are not going to attend CVTC and cancel your application. Watch for this communication in late May for the fall semester and late October for spring semester.
Fulfilling Additional Academic Requirements:
- Another “next step” is to view the complete Admissions requirements for your chosen field of study.
- Select your Program from the alphabetical listing of Admission Requirements. This info sheet will tell you what other steps to take in being accepted to your program (if you haven’t already).
- Provide any required documentation (transcripts, COMPASS, Background Checks, etc.) to support your application to the program as soon as possible. The admission requirements vary depending on the Program of Study you have chosen.
Waiting List:
- All Admission Requirements must be completed before being placed on a waiting list.
- Being on a waiting list means you are ready to begin the core courses when called.
- Waiting lists change considerably the closer it gets to the beginning of a term. This is true for most programs, especially for technical diploma programs; if you are on a waiting list for a technical diploma program, you may be called at the last minute. Consider how you will pay for school.
Financing Your Education:
- It is not too early to begin thinking about how you will finance your education. Frequently Asked Questions concerning applying for financial aid will give you information.
- If you are on a Waiting List, DO NOT delay applying for financial aid. Assume you are going to attend and complete the FAFSA.
- CVTC has a payment plan called Automated Payment Plan that you may wish to learn more about.
Registration and Orientation:
- Registration and Orientation takes place in July and August for the fall semester and November/December for the spring semester. This is when you actually choose your classes, register for classes and make your payment arrangements.
- A letter will be sent to you giving you the exact time and date to report for Orientation and Registration. You must come at the time and on the day you are given. The longer you wait the less choices you have for class times.
- You will learn to register and pay for classes on-line.
