Marketing

AllenI chose CVTC Marketing over a 4-year University because...

There are many different reasons I chose to come to CVTC after already attending a 4-year university. One of the most obvious is the price difference. CVTC is about half the overall cost of a university. Another benefit is the ability to take many general classes that are transferable to a lot of universities. This was actually the original reason that I started taking classes at CVTC, but then I got more and more interested in the program and ended up staying in it till the end. I also noticed that many of the classes at CVTC are much smaller than at the university. I had quite a few classes at the university that were in lecture halls and had about 60-80 people in them.

After graduation I plan on moving to the twin cities area and obtaining a sales position within the “green marketing” field, preferably selling alternative fuel products or services.

Marketing Program

I feel that the marketing program at CVTC prepared me for my career in many ways. The majority of the classes in the program focus directly on Marketing and cover many different aspects of the field as well. I found this to be very helpful because it allowed me to stay focused on my degree and the subjects that interested me most, making it a much more enjoyable experience as well. Some of the important skills I have developed include: customer orientation, product development, promotion, advertising and sales techniques, marketing research methods and management of both employees and small businesses. As a result of this well-rounded Marketing Education I received at CVTC I feel that not only has it made me a more adept salesperson, it has also made me a better individual as well.

Marketing Classes

The Marketing classes were fun because I think Marketing people in general are fun to be around. Many of the Marketing classes involved a lot of group/team activities and projects. This was good because it made it easy for students to establish friendships with one another. Another thing that made classes more enjoyable was the smaller classroom setting that it has. This allowed for much more interaction with the instructor and resulted in a better overall learning experience.

I feel that the marketing program can benefit anybody no matter what field that they want to go into. The marketing field is the largest occupation in the U.S. making up almost one-third of the entire workforce. Every business involves several different marketing processes which in turn creates a lot of job opportunities for many different type of people.

Life-long Friends

It was very easy to adapt to CVTC right away after I started attending. One of the main reasons for this is all of the good people that surround you while you are there. Many of the people I met throughout the course of my studies were upbeat, energetic, motivated and above all things… very social people which made it very easy to make friends with a lot of people.

I am so glad I majored in Marketing because...

It’s such a huge field with so many different options. I am an ever changing person with everything that I do, so it is very convenient that the marketing field offers many different job opportunities. The main thing that attracts me to marketing though is the interaction with so many different types of people. I am definitely a people person and have always had an ability to find away to communicate to all types of people.

Marketing Instructors

I honestly enjoyed all of the different marketing instructors I had while taking classes at CVTC. I found it very easy to connect with them and communicate with them whenever I had questions or comments. I think that it is very important to be able to establish solid and long lasting relationships with your instructors. Not only did the instructors make it a positive learning experience, but they also served as great mentors throughout my time spent at CVTC.
