Program Accreditation

​Program Mission

Our faculty strive to provide quality instruction to help our students achieve their personal and professional goals. We also strive to prepare our students to meet the rapidly changing needs of the clinical laboratory workforce.

Career Entry Goals and Competencies

Upon graduation and initial employment, the CLT should be able to demonstrate entry level competencies in the following areas of professional practice:

  • performance of analytical tests on body fluids, cells and products in all major areas of a modern clinical laboratory
  • recognition of factors that affect procedures and results, and problem solving and taking appropriate actions within predetermined limits when corrections are indicated
  • performing preventive maintenance and trouble shooting of equipment and instruments or referring to appropriate source for repairs
  • collection and processing of biological specimens for analysis
    relating laboratory findings to common disease processes
  • demonstrating interpersonal communication skills with patients, laboratory personnel, other health care professionals and with the public
  • applying basic scientific principles in learning new techniques and procedures and training/orienting peers
  • monitoring and evaluating quality control
  • laboratory safety and regulatory compliance
  • information processing in the clinical laboratory
  • demonstrating professional conduct with patients, laboratory personnel, other health care professionals and with the public
    recognizing and acting upon individual needs for continuing education as a function of growth and maintenance of professional competence
