Hybrid Courses are a combination of face-to-face classroom instruction and online learning. The division of online and classroom instruction for each hybrid course will vary depending on the course content and the instructor preference, but typically one half of course is online and one half is in a classroom or lab. Active and independent learning is promoted.
All Hybrid courses use Edvance 360, CVTC's course management system. Using E360, you will be able to access course materials, submit assignments, participate in discussion forums, and take tests and quizzes.
Is it Right for You?
Hybrid courses work well for motivated learners who find challenging to attend frequent traditional classes. These courses provide students with the best features of traditional classroom instruction and online learning. The classroom portion of instruction often entails practice, application, or reinforcement of content learned online. Instructors provide the student with a detailed course schedule outlining both classroom and online learning activities/assignments.
How it Works
Your course will normally begin with a traditional face-to-face session. During that session, your instructor will explain how the course will be divided between online learning and traditional meetings.
Attendance is critical in two formats. Your class will meet a limited amount of time face-to-face, and the rest of the meetings will be in a flexible format online. Your online learning portion of the classroom is anywhere you are with an internet connection!
You will be using a course management software called Edvance360. Your instructor will use E360 to organize and structure many of your course materials, assignments, and to facilitate engaging discussions as well as group activities.
Participation is very unique in a Hybrid. Your instructor will blend participation opportunities via in class activities, as well as online learning opportunities. You will participate like any traditional class during the week, sometimes in class, and sometimes online. Participation is KEY to your success!
