CVTC is offering high school students who are interested in pursuing a career in the Agriculatural Service field an opportunity to earn high school and college credit. Dual credit academies give high school students a chance to navigate their interests and career options to develop the most successful individualized career path. Students enrolled in this academy will focus on the Agriculture Service Technician short term technical diploma and will train students in the fundamental skill sets required for a variety of agriculture industries. Some of these skills include mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, repair, troubleshooting and critical thinking. This industry varies greatly including sectors such as tractors, skid loaders, implements and also equipment related to feed, milking, grain and waste.The Agriculture industry has numerous opportunities for employees who are able to fix, repair, service, build and maintain equipment. Graduates of this program will work in an industry that changes almost every day so getting bored is not really an option! This program fills a void in a market for students to train for a 10-week summer program and enter directly into the industry OR enhance an existing degree like Agronomy management, Animal Science Management, Landscape Plant & Turf Management, and Farm Business Operation.
*Students must be 16, have a driver's license and reliable transportation to compete the course work at various locations.

Ag Safety & Industry Skills 070-301 (2 credits)In this course, students will learn about proper safety practices and awareness while working in and around agricultural equipment, implements and work conditions with hazards. The following is an example of a few items that will be covered: operating commonly used tools & equipment, safety harnesses & rigging, hand signals and proper lifting techniques and properly ventilating work spaces.
Electricity for Ag. Technicians 070-302 (1 credit)In this course, students will learn about DC and AC electricity & troubleshooting related to working in agricultural applications.
Related Welding - Industry. Mech. 442-120 (2 credits)The purpose of this course is to help the students acquire the basic welding skills in oxyacetylene welding, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW). It is a hands-on self-paced learning environment to learn basic welding skills and safe welding practices.
Ag. Service Applications 070-303 (5 credits)In this course, students will focus on hands-on learning applications in a lab setting. Topic may include: basic mechanical maintenance; hydraulics; pneumatics; precision agriculture technology; feed, grain and waste equipment; implements and milking & robotic equipment.
