The Right Choice
CVTC and local high schools have partnered to offer incoming juniors and seniors who are interested in pursuing a career in welding the opportunity to earn high school and college credit. Dual credit academies give high school students a chance to navigate their interests and career options to develop the most successful individualized career path.
By successfully completing all five courses and the WorkKeys Assessments for Industrial Skills, students will earn an Intro to GMAW technical diploma. Students not meeting the required scores for the Workkeys Assessments will be required to complete the Industrial skills course. All of the academy courses listed below will be taught at the CVTC Campus in Eau Claire. Welding Print Reading will be offered online.
Students enrolled in this academy will learn about welding safety, basic welding math, welding print reading, and wire feed welding processes.
When: January 24, 2023 – May 18, 2023
Location: CVTC Transportation and Manufacturing Center
Credential: Intro to Gas Metal Arc Welding (61-442-1) Technical Diploma
*Students must complete the WorkKeys assessment to be awarded credit for Industrial Skills for Welders, which is part of the Technical Diploma requirements.
