The Right Choice
CVTC and local high schools have partnered to offer incoming high school juniors and seniors who are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare an opportunity to earn high school and college credit. Dual credit academies give high school students a chance to navigate their interests and career options to develop the most successful individualized career path. Credits earned through this academy may be applied to CVTC's technical degree programs and transfer to other universities. By successfully completing this 86-hour course and passing the CNA Certification Test (written and skills), students will have the credential to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
The nursing assistant training course will prepare students to work as a nurse aide in the state of Wisconsin and to take the competency exam, including both a written knowledge test and a skill test. The nursing assistant course is a prerequisite for many associate degree health programs. Additionally, there are many job opportunities for certified nursing assistants (CNAs).
Lecture/Lab (Clark County Health Care): January 22 - February 15, 2024 | M-Th 4-8pmNote: Students may be required to watch videos related to the course content outside of scheduled class periods.

State-Mandated Attendance Requirement
Attendance is mandatory for the nursing assistant course. Students may be allowed to miss up to two classes but are required to make up for the missed time. Failure to make up for missed time will result in course failure. If a third class or clinical session is missed, the student will fail the course. Clinical time must be made up at the clinical site, and not with a written assignment. Students may have the option to attend a lecture, lab, or clinical session with another instructor to avoid grading deductions. Students are responsible to coordinate makeup times with their instructor. In case of documented illness or emergency, a waiver may be granted.
CNA Requirements:
Students must pass 2 Tuberculin Skin (TB) tests (initial test and reading 48-72 hours after initial test) that may be administered by a qualified school nurse or may be contracted out to an outside vendor. The second test is given at least 7 days after first test is administered, and then read 48-72 hours after placement.
School districts may pay for the TB test and reading, or may require students to pay for this requirement.
Form(s)/Information Needed:
Students must pass a certified Background Check. The preferred vendor for this check is CastleBranch. Students must go to www.CastleBranch.com to complete the background check. There they complete a Background Information (BID) form.
Please contact your school district to find out their approach to fulfill these requirements.
