Using Technology to Make Course Materials Accessible for All

This session will guide you through the effective use of accessibility tools and services available at CVTC. We'll look at some tools that are available such as screen-readers and note-taking software. We'll also explore the essentials of creating accessible content, including using the Canvas Accessibility Checker, generating alt-text for images with AI, adding video captions, and understanding relevant policies. Additionally, we'll discuss the challenges and solutions for students using iPads and laptops, ensuring that every learner has the tools and support they need to succeed. Navigating Generational Differences in the Workplace

For the first time in our industrial history, the workforce has five different generations working at the same time. This unique and challenging time in our labor market can be difficult to navigate. Navigating Generational Differences in the Workplace will explore the current state of all five generations using both unique anecdotal experiences combined with objective research and data to better understand the state of the existing workforce and how to maximize its output.

Tech Skills Activity for Student Success

CVTC has introduced Student Technology Activities to identify early technology skill gaps and offer targeted support. These low-stakes activities, covering Canvas, OneDrive, Teams Meetings, and Zoom, have students demonstrate skills by completing various tasks. If a student doesn't demonstrate a skill, a detailed video explanation is provided. This session will provide a demonstration of the activities and the intervention strategy utilized once gaps are identified. CVTC instructors can incorporate the activities directly into their Canvas course. For attendees outside of CVTC, the framework can be adapted to technology available in the school.

Creative Assessment: Gamified Learning vs. Gamification

AI in the Classroom

Join us was we share out how faculty has been embracing AI in the classroom! We will discuss how integrating ChatGPT and generative text tools into class has impacted the learning experience for students. Examples and scenarios will be shared where generative AI has proven particularly beneficial in helping students complete course work using it as a thought partner and writing tutor. A few examples will also share how students have been able to overcome language barriers and improve their English language proficiency in real-time interactions.
